Melbourne & Olympic Parks takes out Lord Mayor’s Award for responsible tourism

Melbourne & Olympic Parks (M&OP) has been recognised for demonstrating excellence in responsible tourism, taking out the City of Melbourne Lord Mayor’s Award at the 2024 Victorian Tourism Awards hosted by the Victorian Tourism Industry Council. 

In front of a packed Crown Palladium, M&OP nudged out Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (Bronze) and the Shrine of Remembrance (Silver) to be awarded Gold for making a positive impact through being environmentally, socially, economically, and ethically responsible. 

The award acknowledges M&OP’s commitment to delivering social and sustainable outcomes across the breadth of its operations, and is recognition of the unique contribution of the precinct to the state and people of Victoria. 

M&OP CEO John Harnden said the award capped what has been an extraordinary 12 months for the precinct.   

“Over the past year we have delivered more events than ever before, with a growing diversity of content attracting new audiences to come and enjoy everything M&OP has to offer.” 

“We are passionate about ensuring the precinct is a place which all Victorians can enjoy, and are proud to be recognised for the positive social, economic and environmental outcomes we deliver for the people of Victoria.” 

“We look forward to continuing to with the industry to deliver benefits for the state, and cement Victoria’s place as a world-leading destination for live experiences.”
