M&OP Helping Give Independence to 200 Kids in Need

M&OP was proud to host over 300 kids, donors, parents and volunteers at Hisense Arena and give brand new bicycles to underprivileged children, as part of Variety – the Children’s Charity - Bikes 4 Kids program.

The momentous occasion for most of the children who have never owned a bike before, was made even more special by sharing in the afternoon celebrated with food and fun around the arena’s concourse.

In addition to this, members of staff also donated their time to help Variety construct the 200 bikes, racing against the clock to get them completed by the time the children arrived.

Senator Derryn Hinch, the Variety Bikes 4 Kids Ambassador, and Variety Victoria’s CEO, Janette Connolly, addressed the crowd as well as meeting some of the children and their families.

Variety – the Children’s Charity is a national not for profit organisation advocating for children living with illness, special needs or disadvantage to reach their full potential regardless of ability or background.

The Bikes 4 Kids program means that children don’t miss out on the opportunity to own a bicycle and share the same benefits as their peers; sense of pride, opportunity to play, transport to school, and staying healthy and active.
