The Victorian Government has recently announced a $3 million dollar upgrade of the iconic Gosch's Paddock, the current training base for the Melbourne Demons' AFL and AFLW teams.
As part of the works, Gosch’s Paddock Oval 2 (adjacent to Punt Road), will be resurfaced and enlarged to MCG sized length and Marvel Stadium sized width.
The upgrade will allow for both a professional training facility for players and coaches, while also enhancing the Oval's recreational use for the community.
The works are being conducted in partnership with the Victorian Government, Melbourne Football Club and the AFL, and will take place between October 2021 - March 2022.
During this time, public access to the oval will be impacted. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
What is the extent of the works?
Works will be confined to the Oval 2 area and will include the expansion of the oval surface, resurfacing and improvements to existing fencing and lighting.
We value the contribution that Gosch’s Paddock makes as a valuable example of green, open space in Melbourne’s inner urban area.
As such, no trees will be removed as part of the project and we are taking all reasonable steps to preserve and protect mature trees adjacent to the works area.
