This morning, the Minister for Sport, Tourism and Major Events, the Hon John Eren announced Hisense Arena has been renamed to Melbourne Arena.
This is an exciting development for our precinct and highlights the importance of Melbourne & Olympic Parks as a vibrant and exciting sport and entertainment destination worthy of carrying our capital city’s name. The name not only presents an important local opportunity to consolidate the venue’s position as the home of indoor sport in Melbourne. It will also result in additional branding and exposure of the city as a major event and sporting capital through international broadcasts such as the Australian Open.
Importantly, we thank and acknowledge Hisense as our naming rights partner over the past decade. During this successful partnership, the multi-purpose venue has hosted a raft of outstanding events that has contributed to strengthening the Hisense brand in Australia.
